    The short version is.

Wire from headlight connection on headlight switch to foot dimmer switch
The dimmer switch has one in and two out connectons. This means that when you connect your ohm meter to one pin, you should have continuity to one of the other pins and when you work the switch you have contuinity to the other pin. You should not have continuity across the two pins that go to high and low beam.

Connect the wire from the headlight switch to the "in" pin
Connect the high beam wire to the lights to one side of the dimmer switch. Your high beam indicator light will also connect to that side.
Connect your low beam lights to the other side.

I'll look some more for the wiring book when I get back from an errand.

Assuming it's a floor switch it probably looks like one of the ones pictured. On any 3 terminal dimmer switch the "center" terminal is where the headlight wire from the light switch goes. Doesn't matter which way you hook the high and low beam wires to the other 2 terminals. Don't forget the high beam indicator wire goes with the high beam wire on same terminal (may be tied together in harness already). Tell us what headlight switch you're using, should be able to provide a diagram for it also.

  6. I have trust issues with old HL switches. Especially those with the glass fuses. When I ordered my harness kit, I got their HL and dimmer switches.
