HEADERS! Let's see'em

  1. Here is the set that I built for our 30. Started out with a set of 15 dollar swap meet headers, I cut them apart, added 7.5" homeade baffles inside of 3" trumpet flared pipe, and reconfigured the bends and straights for a new look, and something unique. [IMG] [IMG]

made these from a set of mr. gasket headers, a dead cherry bomb, and some tubing "borrowed" from the local chevy garage dumpster

I haven't the health, time or energy left @ age 72 to build my own, and not too sure of the talent to build as nice as most I've seen in this thread.
So I bought a set of the Speedway "32 hiboy" headers for my A hiboy w/SBC. Bought the 26" turnouts but not their internal glasspacks as I want to try a set of spiral baffles I've read about.
I wanted the heat shields like Speedway sells in a kit comprised of turnouts, mufflers and heat shields, but they don't appear to sell the heat shields except in a kit with the turnouts and mufflers.
Anybody got any idea on a source of some sort of Stainless, perforated or expanded diamond mesh to make my own shields?

I wanted the headers on my old 37 to add to the overall hot rod look of the car and I think they accomplished that.

Had to make my own, NOTHING off the shelf for Pontiac. Took forever , I got flanges water jetted, MIG tacked them up to each tube, got a mate to TIG , polished each pipe and copper plate before weldin to collector, polish some more then chrome, never again !!, but then I do have another Poncho on a stand while I build a chassis for a Austin pickup, I think I must have some sort of OCD.
