Don't get mad at me, Bro's. My wife was a customer of mine, had a big curiosity about hot rods. She was younger, 22. I was 35. She had all the right stuff, and she was smart.
Married for 28 years, our anniversary is tomorrow...
Last time we went to the wrecking yard, (Pick & Pull, 1/2 price day) I was looking for an 8 inch rear. We found 3, they were all in one little area...but the first one had the pinch nuts on the 'U' bolts, and had to use the 18" Mac ratchet all the way off! She (Joey) removed 6 out of 8, while I did the Ebrake cables, 'U'joint, brake line etc.
When she crawled out, I told her "Half price, maybe we should think about..."

"Let's get 'em, we'll use 'em all," was her answer. She is excellent, a careful wrench, has a photographic memory, and is still extremely good looking. I better do some situps.

My wife goes with me all the time. Last year while paying the admission at the pull a part, my wife says to the lady that it's our 30th anniverary. The gal sternly asks why I'm taking my wife to the junk yard on our 30th. I told her that I know how to show a lady a good time.

  6. Yep, she drives a 66 Barracuda, and rides a Sportster. So if she wants parts, she has to go get them.

I brought her once, she was turned away because she was wearing flip flops.

  8. Yep, mine looks forward to it as much as I do. She's great help, too! Last week she cut down a sweetgum tree with the lopping shears I brought along, so I could get the passenger door open. She's great moral support and real easy on the eyes. Funny, too. The fact that she's deathly afraid of snakes, but she's right there with me says a lot. I got a good'un.

Mine would go but a severe alergy to bees makes her a little hesitant. Having to stab yourself with an epipen and a trip to the ER kinda ruins your day. She likes swap meets though, less bees.:) Dem dump bees is mean!

Good one! kinda reminds of the guy who took his wife to a Ford dealer, wanted to trade her in on a half ton pick-up...wanted something with a smaller box.

On our honeymoon last year my wife told me to stop the car and go in when we saw a junk yard (wreckers over here) that had somewhere near 1000+ old cars in it, we spent a couple of hrs walking around and looking, I think we took more pics in the yard than the rest of the trip! :)

Never have took mine but my buddy Rick took his to one in Carson City Nevada and it just so happens all the wrecking yards and whore houses are mixed together, he parked in the whorehouse lot right next door. She (his wife) later was telling me that all the men who were coming and going kept staring at here and she thought " I hope they don't think I work here" so I told her... " Naw.. they just were thinking what a good wife you are... waiting in the car"

you have got to be joking right! she likes old cars but not old ratty rusty wrecked cars. she just cant walk a junk yard and see each junker as a finished hot rod in her minds eye like I can.

Yeah, she has been before. She didn't complain but I could tell it wasn't her favorite thing to do. I am sure she would go again if I asked her to.

About 17 years ago she wanted to go to a giant swap-meet with me,....but we were dating then. Now that we're married,.....she'd rather I just set her on fire.

Mine hasn't gone to the junkyard or swap meets with me, we have two young children so someone has to stay home and watch them. We have gone to a few shows with swap meets though. She does help me push non running cars in and out of the shop and on and off the lift. My favorite part is getting her to drive my truck to pull something around the yard, she gets so nervous.

I just showed this thread to the wife. I quote: "You Tarzan...me Jane." She then took the credit card and headed for the mall. I'm a smart man and said nary a word.

  23. My wife wants to go based on my enthusiasm. Problem is, she is more of mall type of person. Doesn't like to get dirty. :(

Oh well. I enjoy going to the junk yards by myself. :D

My wife her oldest daughter and our 10yr old son make a family day at swap meets and wrecking yards .A family that shops together stays together hehehe. All are good at finding stuff as well as helping to pull stuff out and help in the shed on the projects. As a reward we(wife and son)went to usa and bought her a new ride, bought a1956 dodge coronet off fellow HAMBer Heavy in TX and drove back to LA to ship it back to AUS.We had a blast ,Kerry(wife) and Eldon(son) were spotting cars and cool places to stop along the way as well as taking heaps of photos(lots of miles on rt66)you cant beat that as a good family holliday and a good way to see some cool cars and some cool senery. And she is already looking forward to working on her new toy when it arrives(yay more swapmeets and car shows). It always pays to involve your loved ones in what you love cause you may find that they enjoy it as much as you.

Forty years ago I took my first wife, Lynn, to Bud Perry's Junk Yard in Miamiville, Ohio. We were newly married and she was still willing to indulge my interests (she left me when I wanted to buy an auto shop with an upstairs apartment). It was a Saturday morning, and a friend of hers, Nancy, wanted to come along, so we all took my '65 Chev PU. When we got to the yard, the women wanted to sit in the bed, on the bed sides, as we toured the isles. Leave it to old Bud to pinch Nancy's rear (how could he resist) as we drove by him. I wasn't appropriately offended or contrite, and I never heard the end of it. I'd wasted a perfectly good visit to Bud's, and I've never chanced it again.

took mine to Hershey for the first time in 1976, fussed all the way there about spending so much money, by the end of the first hour I was about $500 ahead of expenses and working hard on selling more when she said she would watch "our" parts (before that it was "your" damn junk) if I wanted to go looking for stuff I wanted. She kept most of the money she made and the till I gave her for change-she went many more times with me but I never let have the till again nor did I stay away too long!!

I did take her once, tried to get a project for her, no dice, turns out he already had a wife.
I'd rather she didn't know what I spend there anyways.

My wife rather rub my feet after walking around a junk yard than have to go herself!
