Your hat journey sounds like quite the adventure! I totally get the struggle with finding hats that fit just right. It's like a never-ending quest, right? I used to swear by those custom fitted hats because, like you, I've got a noggin that seems to defy the one-size-fits-all notion. It's all about adapting, isn't it? It's funny how our perception shifts over time. I mean, discovering that it's not the hats getting bigger but rather our hair getting thinner is a moment of revelation, for sure! Anyway, glad you found some caps that work for you now.
Harley Davidson was a supplier not too many years ago//made of black leather and had the HD logo on the hat.
Well an old thread but I’ll drop this here. I don’t wear hats much other than a floppy one or straw one occasionally to protect my head from thinning hair. These seem like an alternative to the way more expensive hats shown. Also, I have found you can’t go wrong with Duluth Trading products. https://www.duluthtrading.com/s/DTC...=BRN&queryID=ca1e170e5420a61e5fdd05f0e4f4bdcc
I ran across this today and remembered you have a Model T. HRP https://www.modeltford.com/item/A-GH.aspx
Made something close during my Vietnam tour of duty, I put a rivet in my G.I. fatigue hat that secured the forehead portion to the bill, best I could do considering. Dwight Bond (Gibbon fiberglass) still wears one similar to this day.
Penny’s had the best ones.. They sold in the section where the had house painters shirts, pants, and coveralls ….They were all white. I guarantee there are not many of these. Not a patch …embroidered. Proud to have it and wear it!
I wear ball or trucker hats daily, wear a couple of western style hats occasionally, and have a couple of fedoras I wear a good bit on the weekends, but I’ll be damned if I’ll wear one of those ! Got a buddy that is bad to wear them, calls it his “Go to hell!” Hat. I tell him it looks more like a pimp hat, all he needs is a feather hanging off it, lol!
Hello, If the specific white “stroker” cap is what you are looking for, they were usually cotton type short billed caps. In our dad’s kid to teen hat days, it was either a baseball cap of one of the popular teams or this stubby cap called a “newsboy” cap. Old movies portrayed the bag carrying newsboys in shorts suspenders and a newsboy cap as a symbol of identifying a newspaper delivery kid. As is we all wouldn’t be able to identify the kid that comes by our house and throws the paper anywhere he wants. But, as culture goes, the newspaper kid standing on a corner in some downtown area described as above was the image. Wool Newsboy Caps Jnaki Our dad always wore one of these as a little kid. We never saw him wear one, but a standard baseball cap was the one we saw, as he told us of his semi-pro baseball playing days and traveling away for games. When fishing, a baseball cap was the one of choices and we also used one “like dad’s” when we went fishing with him. The old wives tales of wearing a baseball cap or any cap was told to us by our mom. Her stories of her dad wearing a cap caused him to go bald by the time she was in high school. So, she always told us to not wear early baseball caps. They did not allow breathing of the scalp and hair to grow normally. From our junior high school baseball playing days, we never wore any caps or hats and we still have our high school hairline and head of hair. So, the old wives tale must have worked. Ha! But, on the other hand, our dad always wore a baseball cap when we were growing up. Then in his final days, he switched back to a “newsboy cap.” Not just one newsboy hat, but two styles he had stored in his closet all of these years. He proudly wore a wool cap one day and the next time I saw him, he had on a worn out or at least it was well used, leather one. When asked why, he told us that this was the cap(s) he wore from toddler days to high school baseball teams and onward, when he switched to a normal baseball brim hat. So, our last memory of him was a cool tan color “newsboy cap” worn everywhere I took him on our last, So Cal memory road trips together. The cap(s) rotated each time we visited, until he no longer could go with me. then, as we decided to go to another one of his favorite old places in the So Cal coastline, he wore the "leather" one...
