I need a good heater for the coupe, and I really don't want to mess around with another junkyard heater, so i'm thinkin about Speedway's heater. Is it any good? Is there another route I'm not thinking of? Any help would be great, it's starting to get cold!
Vintage Air makes a little heat only unit. Saw it at the swap meet new for like 200 bucks. Has doors for defrost too. The Mojave is made by flex-a-lite the fan people, it's not a Speedway exclusive.
Yes, I have it in my 1937 Chevy truck. It will melt you right out of the cab. The only downside is there really isn't any duct work, so no defrost. Its great for its size and seems to hold up well 3 years and no problems.
I got the Speedway one in an OT CJ-7. It really cranks the heat out, better than the stock one did. Kinda noisy. Even on low speed.
Got a mojave style from summit (store brand) in the '46. Works terrific, but as previously said, it is noisy. Think I gave around $140 for it, best money I think I've spent on the truck.
Had one in my 27 roadster it will cook you out no duct work they sell an adapter which takes up room but It does make noise they should have designed it with the blower motor outside the car then it would be great I would recomened it if you got a radio in the car. Jc whithney sells a small one too. And napa also sells the same one have to look or talk to your napa person they got them.
Have one in the '64 with the plenum box they make for it so I have defroster air...works good, easy to mount where you want it.
I wanna get one of these Vintage Air heaters. Anyone use one before? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/VTA-50616-VUZ/
Thanks for all the info fellas. I don't mind a little noise for some heat, I'm sure it's quieter than my teeth chattering! And only till April or so anyway. I got tons of room under the dash for it, so I might be going that route.
I had the Mojave my last deuce 2 dr and it worked great. I just installed one in my just about finished 3 window. I like the way it mounts but you guys are right, it does make a little noise but it beats getting cold. I liked it over the Vintage Air as it's more compact.
I have a mojave speedway heater in my 40 pu. Works great in the northwest winters. It will get you hot.
I had one of those in my '28 Model A pickup, very compact. I actually mounted it above the steering column behind the dash - fit like a glove and worked nice.
