Maybe this has been brought up and I never payed any attention. But we should all team up and print a book of how-to's and tech tips. Yeah there is a tech archive, but a book is so much more convienent than a computer when in the garage. I have no tech advise but I would gladly lend any art direction/layout advice/editing i could offer.
BRILLIANT!!!!! Hardcover, at $29/pop? I'd buy one. Hey - doesn't cafepress.com or Amazon have some kind of "publish/print your own book" section? Something like the (rather small) hardcover books available via Apple's iLife (which may actually be printed at SnapFish)... ~Jason
You could call it the "Bruce Lancaster Almanac", he posts so much good tech! There's lots of knowledge out there, any comments from the mods/editors? Flatman
actually sounds like a good idea...it would be great to have a tech manual or book to refer to every now and then!!
I can see a yearly paperback rag, or a coffee table book. Hell, most of the work could be a copy/paste, taking the text directly from here, typos and all, as direct quotes. Of course, Ryan would have to copywright it, and folks would have to sign releases that wrote it, giving up all rights to the work. Unless they "licensed" it to the HAMB in exchange for a one-time fee, like say, a membership for a year/lifetime, etc in the Alliance. That way they'd still individually own their articles respectively, AND the HAMB could do whatever it wanted to it (publish, use it as promotion, etc), as long as the author retained credit. An appropriate release form is available for free in the back of those "for dummies" books - for example, the one about starting your own photography business. Just sub out "likeness" and "photo" with "document" and "article" or the like. Then again, there's about a million lawyers on here that could probably step up to the plate to help Ryan out on this one, too. I say, keep it easy. Keep the typos. Hell, once a year the top 20 could be chosen by a month-long poll. Great idea! And yeah, I've brought this up before, too. ~Jason
let get the ball rollin, what do we have to do first, this is goin be a long process but we need to start somewhere and granted i dont have much time on my hands right now but i am willin to help as much as i can
I am not a fan of lulu, we were going to do a run of catalogs for a gallery show I curated in saint paul....didn't work out so we hand printed our own, way too much work for a large run but at least we got to control everything.

How about copying and pasting tech posts you like into word (to format) and printing them out. Put them into a three ring binder with tabs.
well the internet sure isn't.....if you really wanted to argue a point a book would be far more traditional.....but not everything has to be traditional.
actually, it could be argued that the net is just the same as a library... slide the book, or in this case, website page onto the copy machine, and presto... take it home to the shop
It could also be argued that a Honda engine technically does the same thing as a Flathead and we are not puting those into our cars are we. But lets just agree to disagree...cool.
I like the idea, if for no other reason it's another way for the HAMB to get a little revenue. I'd buy one.
