Does plastic count ? I don't have a scanner or Photoshop, so it's hard for me to render some other way. I'm trying hard to get this one to mock-up for the contest. It's a tribute to the three " C's " of '60's style '40 Fords [ Cushenbery, Cunningham, and Crespo ].

If it's not suitable, no problem. I'll put it up some Sunday.

This is an awesome boattail Clark Kustoms! I'd be honored to 3dmodel it someday.
Seeing so much original stuff i could not resist posting another render and be more in tune with HAMB's oldschool philosophy. Is more than one entry per user allowed?
I wonder why Ford did not offer this Zephyr bodystyle, probably not as practical. Anyways...

That's cool, I dig it, plastic actually makes the MOST sense, as it's more DOABLE in 1:1..........
This should be about the design of the CAR......not how well you can use some program to manipulate a photo.....
    I don't have either.....just pencil, paper and a camera.....:D

  6. I think really what it is about is the idea.. how it's presented is secondary.. having said that I'm really impressed by the obvious amount of time people are putting into this thing, it's totally cool. I'm going to open the vote on Friday around noon when I put up the next challenge, so everyone will get a chance to say what is their favorite. It's that simple too when we vote.. not who has the best idea or who made the best piece of art.. just "What is your favorite submission for this challenge" As simple as it is, it's not going to be easy to pick, so much good stuff.

Here is my submission, based on Dan Palatnik's excellent '40 Ford Coupe model. I've shaved the door handles, hinges, grill trim and hood trim. Bumpers and running boards have been removed. Windshield has been butted and wipers shaved. I've also removed the wing-windows and added some Appleton spots. Wheels are Thunderbird wires.

'49 Ford rear glass for windshield, allowing a severe chop.,
Edsel grille shell , '59 Chevy Headlights, '57 Corvette taillights.
Rear scoop approximates '53 Stude scallop was cut from '51 Chevy door.
Fenders have been raised and tucked, rocker panels rolled .
Motor is set back nailhead with front mounted blower.

Paint would be candy blue with simple white scallops .

I finally found some time today to finish this (wish I had more time).

Reshaped roof as a hardtop and dropped, raked windscreen, removed split in back window, reshaped and shaved nose, modified standard coupe grille, modified stock headlight trim for a frenched look, modified trim with vents on hood sides, altered wheel openings and '53 caddy wheel covers.

Everyone has a shop truck, how about a shop car. Slight top chop, pie cut hood, Lincoln push buttons, push bars, lowered, wide whitewalls, baby moons, fender well exit headers, and a blown flathead. Nothing too radical body wise except the paint. Body looks original until it sits next to a stocker.

Great contest, love everyone's take on a true icon.

Here is what I got so far. modified 40 merc hood, custom grill and bumper, zepher running boards, top of wind shield straitened out, slamed with reversed rims painted to match whatever color decide to go with, remove quarter window and shorten roof to make trunk longer, full fender skirts molded in and rear fenders rolled and tapered, rear fenders hinged for tire and hidden storage access, shaved this and that, front fenders worked over to look rounder? I ain't come up with a rear view yet but the cogs are turning.

  21. Blame Bart for this being a Photoshop, rather than a hand illustrated, drawing. ( I intend to use prisma color, ink and paint.)
I haven't looked at anyone elses enrties yet, as I didn't want to be influenced by other atrist's work. I'm looking forward to brousing through them.

The original sketch was scanned and deliverd to the Mac's Photoshop.

Here we have a heavily modified 1940 Ford Deluxe coupe. Her flatty gave up the ghost in '48 and was resurrected & transplanted into a '28 T so our coupe recieved a flat Merc replacement; ported, bored and injected.
The body has been chopped, channeled, sectioned and shaved. Packard inspired spears adorn the sides. the grill has been reshaped slightly and the hood flows back from the center section leaving the sides welded and molded into the fenders (inspired by Lincolns and Mercurys of it's era.)
4' drop beam on split bones up front is ballanced by a Zed rear that's holding onto a 9" via a 4-link with coiled over shockes. The lake pipes are real but a pair of steal pipes shoot back under and exit out the back through a pair of glass packs for those nights a guy wants to keep it cool. Inside is pearly lt cream tuck 'n' roll jazz with red piping on the bench, red carpet treatment and a 2-tone red and cream '40 dash running original dials and a tach. The 40's steering wheel went with the T so an acrylic wheel out of a '62 Pontiac takes its place. Scenic down town Wisner NE give it some atmosphere. The body is shod in deep layers of semi-shinny black with layered candy colored pearl licks.
Plated steal reverse rims with spider caps on a set of bias plys finish her off.

Here is my submission. I did not have a chance to finish as you can see it has no grille on it, but I am sure you get the idea. I took a tail dragger approach but kept it pretty mild except for the 3 1/2" chop. This is really only my thrid or forth attempt at drawing a car. Everthing was done in illustrator. I would have brought it into photoshop for some lighting effects if I had more time. I will probably finish it soon and post it on the friday art show. Hope you guys enjoy.

Well, what can I say, I love the '40 trucks more than the coupes, so just for the challenge I married the two. I think it really looks cool!!! Have you ever seen this done before?? Seems like a great idea to me! Good luck to all!!:D
