Got my hemi yesterday. 56' Desoto 330. Guy said he removed it from a running car years ago and stored it in his garage since then. Crankcase is full of clean fresh oil. Cylinders appeared to be oiled and engine turns by hand. I think it was a score for $800. Everything is there, he even gave me the Firedome plug wire covers. This will start a long term project for me. I'm going to rebuild this and power my 29 Essex with it. I bought the car about 6 years ago, it has a 318 in it and was just slapped together. I haven't driven it in the last year because I feel it's unsafe. Wil need to make a new frame. What's the opinion of the transmission that came with this engine. Looks like a boat anchor to me. Is it worth anything, or should I just put it outside next to the old dynaflow and cover it up.

Get an adaptor, I prefer the horseshoe style made by Q.E.C.(73RR here), & put a S/B 727 behind it.

I am SO jealous...I have a 55 Desoto Firedome that that would have fit so nicely in.

Good deal. My 56 330 and 727 should be in my A by Wednesday.

Sounds like you got a great deal on the engine. Think about a Dodge A518 trans. Its a 727 with O/D. Makes for a good cruising setup. I'm using one in my 33 Imperial behind a supercharged 392. So far its been up to the challenge.
