Thanks guys . I think there is a place for both leaned pillars and a sit roof . Bonneville styled lean em . Hot rod split the roof .

I would add, regarding the leaning back of the windshield posts, that there was so much effort already expended in cherrying out the cowl, that it would be wasteful to cut it to lean the posts back. Hence the decision to stretch the roof.

Fantastic attention to detail. The quality of your work is inspiring. I've been struggling with the decision to lean the A post or stretch the roof of my 32 3w chop. You have helped me make the decision to stretch the roof. Do you have more pictures or sketches of the cut lines to fix the reveal? Most chops I have seen cut the top straight around from the top hinge area to the back window. I like how you cut lower. Seems like a better way.

  8. Nice job on the reveal....hell you should charge admission to watch this great show on metal work..

Keep the hinge for strength. The wood post already compromises durability.

Yeah that hinge isn't going anywhere . There is about a 1/4 inch of play without it . You could probably get away without the middle hinge .

Function in this case beats form. The 3W doors are very heavy and need the support of the top hinge. Every time I have moved a 3W body the first thing to be removed are the doors.

Would you consider posting a step by step with pictures of your welding and metal finishing technique?

Would anyone else like to have a Flop bobble head on their dash with a body hammer in his hand? :)

Thanks for all your threads/posts, art takes many forms.

Anyone whose ever tried to get that highly profiled parts to fit together and finish off would know how hard it is.

Awesome work Flop. Thanks for taking the time to show how a chop should be done.
I picked up a Brookville coupe at Spring Carlisle and will be starting a chop on it this Fall.
This post will really help me with my chop. Lot's of great tips that I would not have thought of.
Keep the photos coming there worth a thousand words.
