Been a car guy for 40 years, finally bought a slice of American history,,a 56 Ford Fairlane Victoria. It's going to be a Gasser. I really shy away from cutting up cars,,so I searched for one that was probably not going to survive due to rust and other issues,,, so,,, I decided I could feel good about saving it from the scrap heap and make a gasser out of it guilt free. Always loved Gassers since I started going to the races back in the 70's at Orange County International Raceway,,,could not get enough of the Gassers and Altereds. Anyway,,seems like a great forum,,looking forward to learning a bunch and doing some serious "bench racing"
Thanks! The build thread is next,,,,,,,lots of talent here on the Hamb,,looking forward to scooping up some info!
I'm not sure I've seen a Victoria gasser before. Should be cool. There was one close to where I live (Lincoln, NE) had a really rough radius job, the streight axle looked to be off of a 50s ford pickup, had "dog pound" (or something like that) with a snoopy dog poking out of his dog house painted on the door, and the trim was immaculate. The mill was loooong gone, the body was rough and she was white and sweet. Building a 55 customline gasser now...sure aint as flashy as them Vickies were! Good luck with your build and hello from southeast Nebraska.
Well I am good at getting things done but terrible at posting, I have been working on it for years and it is far, far from done but here are a couple of pics.
I will recreate my build in a build thread, but here it is the night it started about 4 years ago, just as it rolled off the transporter after I had it shipped from Missouri to CA
