I am finishing the rebuild on my 223. First it would overheat, got that taken car of. Then I had carb issues. Got that taken care of. Now it wont charge, or at least it doesn't seem to be. My question is this, is there an alternator that bolts up for a conversion, or will I have to modify my brackets? Also, with my lack of electric tools, is there a test I can perform to check the generator or regulator. I have installed a voltmeter, and assuming it is hooked up corredctly it always says 12 volts when the car is running. Nothing seems to affect it, RPM, other accessories running, nothing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

First, POLARIZE it...post below. Be sure to read carefully and use the Ford method, NOT the Delco one in there too!

You should be seeing about 14 V once engine is a little above idle.
