Technical Generator bypass?

really not sure of the purpose of this?

 

Fan idler for a flathead Ford running multiple carbs and an offset Generator brkt

 

Oh ok I was thinking maybe a race engine without a gen to keep the belt up off the distributor. Thanks for the help

 

With an offset Gen ,you lose provision to mount a fan.This solves that
