  1. Anyone have a way to clean out gum and rust from old gas tanks beside steaming them out ?

try using toilet bowl cleaner. I used it a couple of times and it works fine. let it set for a couple of hours then rinse with hot water and spray with wd 40.
add a little water and slosh it around a few time.

Drop a small chain in there with it when you start sloshing... that'll help knock the big chunks loose!

I substitute small rocks for the chain.

  9. First clean the petroleum products out with a soap or alcohol, I use Castrol Super clean or Joy Dish soap, then clean the rust with muriatic acid, wear gloves and a respirator, rinse with water and then alcohol to remove the water.
