When you have gone through the work to properly put on a set of fenders, you hesitate to pull them off of one that looks so right. Looks good as is. Build another with your next ideas, this one is done.
That is a REALLY nice Coupe. You are giving me the inspiration to keep mine that I just brought home yesterday.
One of the "Coolest Banger's" I've ever seen. I'd stop and check this little "A" out as quick as I spotted it. Trophy well deserved! I'd like to think the original owner of this little bad boy would have been " John Milners Dad"!!!
EJayM, You've already got what many guys try over and over to get. You have plenty of time to build whatever you want. You don't need to spend money on this one, just spentd time and enjoy it. And you've already got a keeper girlfriend to enjoy it with! Some guys also try over and over to find one of those! It looks like it came right out of the 40's. You will never reproduce that paint for example. Let it stay that way. Drive it as if it's late 40's early 50's. Try to live in it in the time frame it is giving you. I've said it a million times, "the car is telling you what it wants to be, you just gotta listen!" keep it up. Love to see the young guys that get it!
Thanks man, that means a lot! I'm doing this car as 40's as I can get it, I'll have to post some updated pictures of some new parts I've scored. Thanks man! The seat is out of a panel truck, that's all I know! Fenders are for sure staying! Thanks man. Sorry for being short on the updates, I've decided to keep this car totally 40's, I've got a Snyders high compression cast iron head that looks no different than a stock, just recently got a Mallory mechanical advance dizzy, I hand forged a shifter complete with Acme shift knobs, and I just recently hit a HOMERUN on parts. I scored an original set of (12 volt, halogen converted) King Bee headlights, a restored '49 ford wheel, a '33 column, a real original 32 dashboard, a full set of 1957 Stewart Warner gauges that I have a matching tach for, a 1929 stude brass dash panel, and some assorted small parts. Some pics included!
Any chance of a video? I'd like to hear what the exhaust sounds like. I've been trying to convince my Dad to get rid of the muffler on his Coupe.
Very nice coupe. You should feel very fortunate to have it. I've got something similar on the way... I'm stoked!
great car! I know you are happy you got some new headlights but the stock ones do look good with the yellowing and all. It gives it that '40s look. The main thing I would do is get the front to sit lower.
Been a long time since I've updated this about how far this little car has come. So long story short I was accepted to race the car at the 2015 Race of Gentlemen, so a 2 month mad dash ensued to get it ready. Engine was tore down to the block, babbit scraped and then rebuilt. Bored 60 over, B cam, 5.5:1 Snyders high compression head with some tricks in the combustion chambers, ported and polished, Scalded Dog intake with a Stromberg 97, Mallory dizzy, V8 clutch with a lightened flywheel, Riley knock-off finned valve cover, leakless water pump, one piece rear main seal. Had an awesome time building it, many late nights with my friends and my woman in the shop putting it together. All work was done by me in my shop. Lettered and numbered by me also and I'm a painter by NO means so bear with me lol. Since TROG I've beat on it and daily drove it, took it to the Pittsburgh World of Wheels and won a club choice award which was pretty cool considering my age and the level of cars that were also there. It was also featured in the TROG edition of Thunder Roads magazine. Here's some updated pics.
