My first question but I have learned a lot on this forum. Is the front spring supposed to be tight against the crossmember on a 32 Ford? I dropped my axle to paint it and found the spring has about 1/8" of up/down movement. The u bolts are tight. Thanks, Tom

Yes, definitely. You can make a small spacer and weld it to the bottom clamp.

There is a spacer on the bottom clamp. If I add another spacer does it have to be welded or will the spring bolt locate it ok. Thanks

The clamps will locate it just fine. I removed a couple leafs from my spring as the car rode too stiff and needed a bit of altitude adjustment. I made a spacer to compensate and used the bolts to locate. That was many trouble free miles ago.

Thank you all for you quick responses. I will measure and make a spacer tonight. Thanks again, Tom
