I need a front crossmemmber for my A and I saw that So-Cal's offering has 7 deg of caster built into it. If I use it, what else will it effect? Do I have to change anything else, anywhere else on the chassis to accomodate the extra angle?

The 7 degrees is the desired caster angle for the cross spring front ends and having it come out of the box that way saves you the work of setting it up to get that angle.

It keeps the spring in line with the axle so that the shackles don't bind.

There are several threads on here detailing setting up the front crossmembers and getting the caster in them that explain it pretty well.

Makes sense to me........Thanks for the info. I looked in the tech archives, and did a thread search but came up empty handed. Then again, some would have the opinoin that I have A.D.D., brain damage, and I'm half blind so it's no surprise! :)

Be sure what you are buying, some A X-members are intended for boxed rails, won't work with a stock frame.

I plan on boxing the frame so that's ok.

If I'm gonna put a V8 in it, boxing the frame is pretty much mandatory anyway isn't it?

I think you will find that a stock A front crossmember set level by the radiator mounts will have 7* caster built into the spring tunnel.
