  3. You are missing out Bob. Hope you’ve had a Bob’s Big Boy...

Here’s to the men and women who proudly served their country, shed blood and died in her defense.
For the families, who sacrificed right along with them.
For their brother's in arms who came home battered and without the men who served and fought beside them.

MANX for Memorial Day fun in the sun.

Jeeps, that trusty companions, for those who served and sacrificed everything so we could do what we do:

and an off topic commission with an on topic nostalgic theme. The reason for all the Chevys is because these cars belong to the club who sponsored the Charity event “Wheels of Courage” in Council Bluffs, IA. to benefit Kids fighting cancer and heart disease at the Children’s Hospital.
The Broncos Burger folks allowed us to use their sign free of any licensing fees. I used to eat there as a kid and they are still cool and still good eats!

  4. Bad to the bone @Frogz !!!
( Ha ha ha... no delay... ) I sat in line at one in Tajonga, CA for 20 minutes, cars lined up 3 rows, 10-15 deep. Worth it? Yes it was and so was the heartburn from the potent onion...

    Hello,

In our group of high school, hot rodders, there was a sub-group (today’s term) of surfers that had cool wagons and sedans. Some of them were fast cruisers and others were just like my 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. It was a reliable vehicle to get you to the beach and run well on long trips up/down the coast. This is one of those reliable station wagons.

One of my friends had just purchased a 51 Plymouth, 2 door, station wagon. It was a cross between light blue and sea foam green. It ran well, had plenty of space and got all of us to the beach comfortably. He put adjustable curtains on all of the rear windows and across the back of the folding front seats. He liked privacy when he slept in his wagon.

For the station wagons, most of them carried 4 people, beach stuff, and 10 foot+ longboards. (usually on roof surf racks, sometimes in double rows) When he only took me or one other person and two boards, the rear window was open and the longboards slid toward the front seats. Either way, the longboards still stuck out requiring a red warning flag.

For me, it was limited to two people and longboards in the popped out, rear window of my Ford Sedan Delivery. During this time period, one of my boards was 11' 4" and the replacement for that one was 10'6" and heavy. Also, at this time, we started to realize that shorter boards were: lighter, more maneuverable, cost less, thinner, and were able to be easily carried under our arms. (Something to worry about, unless you were "Plastic Man" with unlimited arm length...)

My friend was always nice to everyone and did not say "no" to someone who needed a ride back home from the beach. There was always more rope and a towel between the boards. So, it did not matter to him how many boards he could put on top.(as long as it did not damage his station wagon)

Memorial Day weekend always became a longer trip to our secret surf spots in Baja. It allowed us a four + hour(s) one way trip and 200+ miles to get to those spots that were still relatively unknown. This long weekend trip always told us it was near the end of school. It was also getting close to our summer surf sessions, with more trips and cruising. Yes!
