I checked my webstats this morning and found a bunch of links coming from a mexican cars-for-sale website.

Looked to me like a 'smarter than thou' seller used a direct link to my website picture to lure buyers to his junkyard. Apparently he can't even afford his own website or imaging host.

I changed the name of the original picture and corrected my weblinks and replaced his link with a warning.
I used a picture of some ugly junkyard for the background and an online translator and hope that any buyers can understand it.

Ahhhh.....the marvels and pure genius of the world wide web never cease to amaze me.
Has anything like that ever happened to you?

Thanks for the spelling check, sir.
Let me know if you can find any more - I just typed it in one piece and didn't check it again.

So how much is that in Peso's amigo??????

Apparently it happens alot on craigslist. I guess some stupid folks will send deposits sight unseen. Post ten bogus cars, get a couple hundred dollar deposits on half of them, not a bad days work.

Similar thing happened to a guy on another forum who owned a motorcycle dealership. Another dealership across the country was using his pics from his website. He replaced the ones that were linked, to porn pics. It was hilarious.

10 grand according to an online currency exchange website.

Of what I understand, he had two potential buyers this month, who wanted to see more pics. But he just told them to come by and visit.

'Oh amigo, sorry - it sold yesterday, but check out the other POS 48 coupe in the corner there, for just 8000 pesos.'

One time I found my own 64 Impala SS conv. for sale on Ebay supposedly in Portugal and the "seller" was offering cheap container shipping to the states! It was at home in my garage at the time. Same Kansas photos and so forth. Sure hope no one hit the buy it now. It was priced at about half it's real worth at the time. Lots of scammers out there. Gonna be more of them too the way things are going.

    Haha. That's cool. Thanks, man.
Was a lot harder than that seller suggests, to find it a couple of years ago. Let alone restoring it and all.

I keep getting a lot of links to it every month, but never had a link like this before.

  12. As always buyer beware.. I quit dealing with most online venues for buying cars and parts. I'd have to say if there not okay with waiting for me to come and pay cash in person then its not worth buying. oh yeah and "Mi gatos culo es enfuego, ey dios mio!!" anyone know what that means? heh

  13. Used to happen all the time on Kijiji, at least once a week. There were lots of high dollar muscle cars where the photos and descriptions were "borrowed" from legitimate sellers, usually dealers, then posted all across Canada with ridiciously low prices. I even found one that had been reported stolen on another site! I gave up reporting these to Kijiji because they didn't seem to be very proactive, but they seem to be better at catching them now.

I had something a little like this happen to me with eBay. I listed a truck box on eBay with a detailed description of exactly what I was selling. I had about half a dozen pictures showing every angle possible with all of the problems with the box. A guy from Indiana bid and won it. After he won it he asked if I would store it for him for a while, I told him I'd store it for a short time but I was not responsible for any damage that may occur while I was storing it. I have a good safe place to store it but I was just trying to cover my butt. He then starting whining because I wouldn't give him the frame the box was sitting on. I made it very clear in the eBay ad that only the box was for sale, I keeping the frame. Two days after he won I was surfing eBay and came upon his ad for the box, using my pictures and even the exact wording I used in my original ad but he added something to the effect that he bid on the box but after he won the seller, me, backed out on including the frame with the box. I have 100% good feedback and this really pissed me off. I immediately sent him an email telling him to pull his ad or I'd report him to eBay. He didn't for two days so I reported him and they yanked his ad. After a bunch of other horsing around with this jerk he finally came and got the box. His was the only negative feedback I ever gave on eBay.

I know, those thoughts crossed my mind for a second as well, when I first saw the listing.
I drove it a few hours ago and it felt weird to think a stranger in a strange land puts it up for sale.
    I hate the internet sometimes....
