I have a few questions for you. Did you not brace up the inside when you chopped it because you tacked the doors shut? And what is the name of the clips you used and where did you get them? You truck looks great keep up the good work!

That 39 grill doesnt look right ! I think you should send it to me ! J/K looking great !

  8. Kevin: Yeah, we will do that, looking forward to it!!!

Pete: Yeah, I already got my new dropped axle, but I need the cherry picker, to put the engine out, and disassemble the whole front suspension.
That will be me main goal in January!!!

EATER: I tacked the doors, to make sure the gap stays the same, and also to hold the parts together after the first cut!!
These clamps are called: Butt Welding Sheetmetal Clamps I bought them on ebay for 40$ per 16 pieces.

retics4me: sure you can get this grill!!! But only if you have a 35 Grill :D

Thanks to all of you guys for your kind words!!!
Thats what keeps me mativated ;)

Is here anyone who would be willing to do a photoshop job for me???

I got this nice shot of the truck:

Well now I'd like to have it lowered 4" on the front axle and 2" on the back.
I'd also like to have this wheels and wide whites on them:

Would also be cool, if you could move the grill a little lower and dress the engine up :D

That would be very cool, thank you!!!!

Harbor freight has then for like $8.00 I picked up some this other day.

  11. Yesterday was my last day working on the truck in 2008.

I started welding the drivers door:

It was a pain in the a$$ bending this piece of sheet metal in shape with no tools:

but I think it turned out OK...

So tomorrow I'll catch my plane to Austria for well deserved vacation!!

I wish all of you happy holidays and a happy new year!!!

Looks pretty good on that door Martin....a bend like that can be made easier if you have a piece of pipe, and a body hammer to bend it closer to where it needs to be. Keep up this pace, and you'll be in that thing and driving by Valentine's Day.

  13. Here you go Martin. I couldn't find a good Olds motor, but I figured a hemi would work. Also, I think the wheels look better black. BTW, that's Dreadman's cowl steering.

cool, i love those grills man!

  15. Dave, this one looks awesome!!!
The hemi works fine, and also the cowl steering :D

do you think, the black wheels also work with a flat black paint job??
I was thinking about the same red for the wheels as the red for the motorblock!! What do you think??

  16. I should have mentioned the paint job...
But I didn't think about it, in that moment!!

I hope the green is gone very soon :D

Its looking great, your moving along alot faster than I did. The only suggestion I have would be to get the grill down lower to follow the top of the cowl. Looks like you don't have much room from the bottom of the grill to floor though. Might run into a problem there. Is it possible to section that grill somehow? Keep us posted....

  21. Yes Timmy, I'll mount the grill lower!!

    Here is another update:
    Got my new engine yesterday.
It is a 425 Olds big block out of a 65 Starfire. Thanks Tad!!
Here it is with my new Shifter:
Thanks Alex Gambino for the Gennie and Steve (McKustoms) for that awesome Shift Knob:

Today I was working on the front suspension. After removing the old Brakes, I tried my new So Cal Forged Axle, just to get an idea of the drop:

So thats how she is looking now, after disassebleing all the front suspension components.

You can find the suspension stuff in the ads, if you are interested in them...

Cool build! Where did you get your fabrication skills from? You are making a lot of progress in a short time. That's something that a lot of people don't or can't do. Hard work pays off. My parents live in Louisa and my dad has a nice fabrication shop and chassis dyno there. If you need anything as far as metal goes or parts that need to be welded by a professional, steering, driveshaft, brake brackets, safety related, etc. let me know and I will get you two in touch. I will be there the end of this month, if you need a hand let me know, maybe I could run over and give you a hand.

  24. If you need a cherry picker I got one you can use till you finish your build. You may have to find a jack for it. I'm about a hour & 15 min. down 81 from you. Carl

  25. Dave: Yeah, that mill is really big!!! I think I will have to do something special to the hood to fit it...

Micah: I got all I know from watching friends doing their work and a little bit from school ;)
Would be cool, if we would gome together one day!!!

Tad: Everything worked out well with the transport!!
And I love my new engine!! Just bought me new mounts for it :D
You have to change your route and stop by on day, so we can start it up again!!!

Carl: I got a cherry picker from a friend, but it was setting outside for some years... But I think the only thing I have to replace are the wheels.
If that's not working gladly come back to your offer!!!
I've seen, you're doing custom glass jobs...
I think you just got a new customer!!
We have to get in touch about that!!!

  27. Thanks Bart, I'll do my best!!

Today I got a nice package from Speedway Motors.
Front suspension parts, that's what I was waiting for!!!
So I mocked up my new front suspension, as far as possble:

Still need some parts, but hey: STEP BY STEP!!! :D

Brake Parts and wheels are out for powder coating now, will also give the axle out for coating.
So I have just time to do the engine swap.
Got me these new motor mounts on ebay:
So I just have to weld me the other part to the frame!!

Hope to get them this week!!

Glad the hood fit so well.
It looks like that frame was already boxed.
I had to rethink my front suspension. Look like spring over axle set up like yours.
I did manage to find my Y -block and 3 x 2 intake.
So if I bust some ass this week; we might be at the same stage.
