I have a '48 Ford 1/2 ton pickup 3 speed (open drive shaft, with floor shift)in my car. Have had no problems until recently when shifting into 2nd it goes "too far" and locks in 2nd due to blocks on the hub extending out beyond the sliding sleeve. I am wondering if the tower has a stop that is bent, missing, etc. Or a problem in the clearances of the main shaft? I can remove tower & force the 3 blocks back in using force & shifter/tranny works again. I have installed the conversion for new springs, balls etc in the tower already. Gentle shifts work ok, normal shifts or more locks it into 2nd.
