I love how all these Ford haters talk shit, but 90% of the stories in this thread involve putting a Ford motor in a NON-Ford vehicle. I had a 305/283 combo in my roadster, that was the only Chevy I will ever mess with. Don't like supporting GOVERNMENT MOTORS!!

  8. Cool thread. I remember a feature in a mid-'70s Popular Hot Rodding magazine of a '64 Corvette roadster with a dual-quad 428 in it. Blue panel paint with lots of fogging, I think. IIRC, the owner said he liked the handling of the 'Vette, but the power of the Ford!

  10. Back in the early 70's I ran a 289 F in my 1947 CJ2 Jeep along with a Studebaker rear w/4:56 gears. Had a blast with it, :D from raking hay to draging main on Sat. night. 327/4 spd Camaros were a snap in the 1/4 mile. My top end was 90 mph & I was backing off when I crossed the line. With some bald Cenex 14" tires I would lift the front corner coming off the line !!
The 289 actually fit just as good, maybe a little better than the old 40 HP 4 banger that was in it.
Got married and traded it for a trailer house. Sure miss that Jeep.

Way back before photos were invented I had a 39 Chev coupe with FE. It was actually more Customline than Chev, had the coupe body plonked on Cusso chassis. Used to piss a lot of people off, that was it's biggest attraction.
