I know, you're thinking, "Wow! That windshield is so clean!", right?
I picked the w/s yesterday from the glass shop. One week to cut 2" off the top. They couldn't get the frame apart (?), so I had them give me some setting tape and home I went to put the glass in.
First, they couldn't get the frame apart because all brazing I did, some had sweated the mounting tangs on the upper bar to the side frame. No big deal, a couple good whacks fixed it.
I couldn't get the glass fully seated, the setting tape seemed to be too thick, so I thought I'd set in black silicone. It STILL wouldn't set down fully, and then I measured...
It's 3/4" too tall! Seriously? They had it a week, and don't have a tape?
So, it's going back for round two. I guess I should be glad it's not 3/4" too short... IMG_3590.JPG

Supernice rod ,you have done there! I had a buddy who said he could get glass an cut it for me years ago,a freeB even WOW cool. He did,an that was really nice of him. He had some how not cut the top straight{it was about 1/2in. bow up,so I had to grind that down slowly an fit it all together} been great for years now on my 28A

Brian, I looked thru my stash and have an original frame and one from Trautwein. Also have two T seals that go around outer edge for wind/rain resistance. One T seal measures .300 by .700. The other measures .300 by 1.000. One came with Trautwein, but not sure which one. I think Wescott might have the correct one. Once you put them in they are somewhat loose in the channel but will not slide out if you miter the corners. Hopes this helps. You have done an outstanding job on your Roadster.

Thanks, I thought they should fit tight in the channel, I had to lube the ones on my Diamond T truck. I won't worry about them. Thanks! When I win the lotto I'll buy a good frame!

I picked up the w/s and frame from the glass shop (they cut and set it and didn't charge me because of the wrong cut the first time), and went to set the gasket tonight. It falls out, the base is just under 1/4". I set it in some silicone for the time being just to get the car to AutoRama, but I'll be getting some different gasket for sure.

Way to go Brian, keep it on pace! Autorama sounds like a blast. I want to see some pictures of your car there. Maybe someday I will get mine done so I can go have some fun too. That's what keeps me going. That and watching your thread.

    Boy Brian,
This Roadster has had a helluva existence in its time that it went together back in the 80’s.....
Is this it’s 2st incarnation? 964FCCD3-149E-488B-AB2E-D9874768C78B.png And is this the change with a subsequent owner? 26D326E7-D7B7-4C12-97B2-09E46B96DEC6.jpeg 9B3D6A64-2546-4C4D-AD2F-74C6D9CD7688.jpeg Did Gear Jammer (Steve) build it?
    This car is forever Timeless!!!!!!

Yes, it is his. It's really fun to see photos of it as originally built, then the feature in SR, it's a testament to Steve for building a car that's fueled so much inspiration in so many of us. I'm happy to have a chance to make it a car again, although it's very different from it's original incarnation, it's still a traditional styled '34. Now it represents the era I remember as being cool, late 50's, early 60's. Funny, since Steve and I are the same age, we're inspired by different era cars, that this car would be built by both of us, in two different styles.

IMG_3767.JPG My wife wasn't too happy about taking the laundry room counter over. On the plus side, the glass is cut, the gasket is in (helped by some silicone sealant), and we're off to plow the driveway...

There’s a lot of purple on this one too ;).
I’m glad that you’ve given the FF another life.
I’ve got a few sets of tires-wheels as well,
it really changes the look just by swapping them out.

How long was the FF apart when you got it?
Where did the chassis go? Is it still a Flathead Powered chassis with the Quickie?

    Thanks for continuing its legacy.

Steve had those on it, he sent me that one (or a very similar one), and a couple of build photos that show it with slicks. I think it must have been before the SR feature, he said he sold the car, minus the blown flathead, before that was even published, so the car entered automotive purgatory (from 1983 to 2018) before it was even inked! It's back now among the living. It spent a long time here in MI in the Detroit area, owned by Piscatelli's (Piscatelli Design) dad, before being separated from the chassis and ending back east as just the body, with very few of the original parts. It did come with the chrome headers and full 6 pipe chrome exhaust, which I sold to a guy from AU, and a couple of other small bits. I don't think much else stayed with it. Different frame rails, different w/s posts/frame, different seat, etc.
Edit: I don't know if they (Piscatelli's) kept the chassis and engine, also a flathead, that was in it when they had it. The guy I got it from, Billy O, said the story he got was one of the PO's wanted a 3 window and kept that chassis, offing the body, which traded hands several times in the meantime. I don't know this for a fact, but it fits the overall story.

Always thought bourban and soap bubbles shouldn't go together, one is slippery enough.

Carpet down. Indoor/outdoor area rug from that big box store. Bound the edges with vinyl matching the door panels. Looks pretty good, for $18. 27867454_10216229672077122_4698896650164748570_n.jpg 27972207_10216229672397130_1525649024929015314_n.jpg

The interior is DONE. Windshield, DONE. Next week I'll get the paint polished (I keep finding dull spots in the black single stage urethane that need more finessing), and get the trunk upholstered. Then a couple days off before AutoRama. See you in Detroit! 27858557_10216240459586803_3952936189920213161_n.jpg 27973528_10216240690232569_4188633913794955069_n.jpg 28166655_10216240690592578_1439144216708945599_n.jpg

Well done Brian. The car looks great. That windshield turned out fantastic even up close. You should be very proud. I cant imagine how much fun you are going to have with it in Detroit.

Thanks Billy! That windshield was a challenge, but it did turn out pretty darn good for less than $50. Including cutting the glass twice, and "chroming" it twice. ;-)

IF you can find some the old "Blue Coral" paste wax with the additional sealer used after the wax was the best wax I ever used on all my black cars. It is hard to spread and remove but looks good. Worth the extra effort.
