Sold the grill shell! Happy feet! My wife is no longer irritated with me. About that, as for the rest...;-)

It was rotten, but held on by hundreds and hundreds of 1/2 staples and as many tacks. The material had to come off to be trimmed at the rear panels and curtain anyway, owing to the 2" chop (these bows are uncapped). In addition, I want to modify the 2nd bow to drop that part of the top over my head, like Chris's beautiful roadster, so it wouldn't look like a buggy top. So now, the question is, tan canvas, or black? I kinda like the idea of black, on black, on black, it'll make the car look lower and longer with a dark top.

Are you putting black guts in it? Then a black top would be perfect. Black car, tan interior, tan top is always classic.

If you go tan there is a discontinued Haartz color called driftwood that is very cool if you can find it. You may call a few trim shops and see if they have any lying around.

His top is perfect, I copied the way the 2nd wood bow is notched to drop down over the irons further. It was surprising how much, I took about 5/8" out of the curve of the bow, which dropped it almost an inch and half. Far enough that the upper mount hole in the bow now lines up with the lower bolt hole in the irons! I was so excited and pleased I mocked up the loft of the top with masking tape. Which also makes me think a tan top is going to look killer. Onward...

LOL! I did the exact same thing when trying to figure out how I wanted the top on my roadster to look. Only difference is I used the blue painters masking tape. Good to know I am using HAMB approved methods on my build!

I painted the steering column and wheel today, made some little stainless brackets for hood supports for the cowl, cleaned up the seat (brown vinyl) that came with the body. I kinda like the seat now that it isn't all splattered with undercoating and overspray. Oh, and broke the damned horn ring on the T'bird wheel. Crap... 23473211_10215408988040534_3462624269754463475_n.jpg

I don't know how a rumble seat latch is supposed to look, but this how I did it. My wife asked why I didn't drill the hole BEFORE I painted it, I had no good answer... IMG_3325.JPG IMG_3328.JPG IMG_3329.JPG IMG_3330.JPG

IMG_3340.JPG IMG_3341.JPG IMG_3340.JPG IMG_3341.JPG My pal Jake turned the Ford hubs down to fit the "good" Buick drums this afternoon, so rushed home and put the wheels on and got the car up on all four. I scored a set of 5 '49 Chevy 15's from him too, so now I just need a pair of 800x15 WW's (I have pair of decent 700x15 WW's now) to make 3 complete sets of wheels and tires for it. Wires and radial black walls, 14" chrome slots and bias belted WW's, and 15" steely's and bias ply WW's. I'm excited !

Brian's car reminds me a poem I heard once,
I like it in white walls,
    I like it in spokes,
    But I like everything better-
    after a few tokes.

...or something like that, my memory isn't very
    Wait, what was I saying?

No, no, no, I don't smoke it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor. No thank-you please, it only makes me sneeze, then it makes it hard to find the door...

I got the (rather clunky) gas pedal and it's cable mounted, so the throttle works. I'm pretty disappointed in myself about the job I did, and with the pedal after installing it. I missed the mark positioning it, ergonomically speaking, and ended up with three "extra" 1/4" holes in the firewall, which I wanted NO holes or wires poking through. In my defense, they're pretty well hidden, and I put some stainless carriage bolts through the holes (after polishing the heads), so they're pretty camouflaged, but I know they're there. The pedal is a clunky aluminum piece from eBay, that was cheap enough, included the cable, but it really looks cheesy. I think I'll get an early 50's Chevy floor hinged pedal and ditch the stupid spoon shaped pad it came with, which lost the little rubber strips even before I got it installed.

Win some, lose some, break even on some. 24129844_10215524199840757_4440013479773916511_n.jpg

DUDE! Come on! I was in Paris a few years back with an extra day to spare. My wife (not a fan) cringed when she asked what I wanted to do with that extra afternoon. Pere Lachaise Cemetery was the destination to drop in on Jim... as long as we in town. She admits it was a good day. Before you slip into unconsciousness, take the crystal ship and break on through Blue One!
