Technical Floor shifter in a '30 Ford Coupe

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1931fordtruck, Jul 12, 2016.

  1. I have a Chevy 194ci straight 6 from a '62 Chevy Nova II w/power glide trans that I'm sticking in my '30 Ford Coupe. I'm assuming since there are no mounting bolts on the tail piece, that it was a column shift. I picked up a floor shifter that was out of a corvair this past weekend. Does anyone have any input as to how to adapt the floor shifter to my trans to make it work?

  2. The top pic is of my trans and the bottom pic is of a trans with a floor shifter attached.

  3. As far as I know, all those early powerglides where pretty much the same. The shifter is mounted to the floor, and the rod ran up to the shift linkage on the transmission. Pretty simple stuff.
