I was going to make one of these from scratch, but then I found out that EELCO was making them. They used to sell them with cap and weld in threaded filler neck. It looks like they don't sell them anymore. Anyone know where I might find one or am I back to scratch building one?

    Thanks guys!

Not really what I'd call a flipper cap, more of a winged cap. Moon used to make a similar one, with three wings. Maybe still do.

Moon still makes the three bladed flipper cap. It's sorta' spendy too. The one I posted a picture of I saw on the Isky roadster in the NHRA museum. Nice and clean looking. That particular picture is CrazydaddyO's tank.

I like that Mooneyes cap too. Just thought this style would look more appropriate on a Model T tank, like the setup pictured.

Have I called this fuel cap the wrong thing??? Am I confusing people??? I called it a flipper cap because it resembles the flipper wheel covers...

should I have called it a spinner cap because Moon calls theirs that, even though it doesn't have three bars?

  9. The Isky cap has all the earmarks of a home made piece. Maybe a threaded steel cap and a piece a bar sock artfully blended together, massaged and then plated. Would be a neat project.

I was actually thinking of making one out of a tie-off cleet and a threaded cap. :D I'll be turnin' the welder up high for that one.

The one in the picture is an EELCO. No longer available.

Okay... sounds like I'll be making one. I like making stuff better. Just thought a cast one might be cool too.

Since we're on the subject, anyone have a picture of the one that's on the Isky roadster???

i was thinking that is how the one pictured is made.

check into big truck fuel caps i have seen them in both aluminum and brass and boat cleets made from both also

  15. Make a pattern out of wood then sand cast it from aluminum.

How about a "dog bone" radiator cap from a model T Ford or some similar 20s car ?
