Rebuilding a flatty tranny doing the later gear swap into the 78- case. I am in need of a 16 tooth input shaft and was wondering as I looked on ebay and other places, how the 16 and 15 tooth differ as far as 1st and 2nd gearing. (My 16 tooth gear set is from a 40 Merc. and I realize you can`t mix the 15 tooth gear set) The 15 shows up in just about all apps including truck. Will the 16 have a lower 1st gear or higher 1st gear than the 15 tooth? The math seems to show a 15 input and 29 tooth cluster would be a lower first gear. (kinda makes sense because the Merc with the 16 tooth had more torque than the Ford.)

can you do an accurate drawing of the input shaft from the face of the transmission, to the start of the splines, the end of the splined shaft, the step down then to the tip
    and the girths
    thanks
