Maybe a little too modern for most of the posters on this thread but I like it and it looks like it is supposed to be in a 40. Do they rule? no but on this web site they are pretty popular. IMG_9114R.jpg

I always keep a spare flatty in the corner ready to go in case a immigrant REV SCRUB HANSEN 008.JPG breaks down on the Oregon Trail.....

  9. Hey Chaz,
    Don't worry I don't eat corn flakes!
Hey, it's a big sand box, we all can play
and we all have our own ideas. The Chevy
small block did inherit the throne from
the flatty it's true. But it only fits at the
end of the traditional time line that we here
subscribe to. By the early '60s (the end of our described
and espoused to traditional period) the Chevy
was taking over, but the fact that the flatty has had
major interest and respect for 85 years can't
yet be duplicated by the Chevy! Think of it this way,
There are still guys hot rodding 4 Bangers, even T's!
There is no rational reason to do this!
We all get our jollies from different places!
    Done!

  11. Hey Ron, in the interest of historical accuracy,
Conestoga wagons were made by Studabaker,
therefore they wer 6 cylinder flatheads!

image.jpeg image.jpeg Here's my little baby v860 coming together in the midget. Spent last weekend fitting up an old Schieffer mag and new heads. Carbs are up next then find somewhere where I can get pushed around for a few hours.

I know I saw the post, I love collecting them. I want to pull the trigger and buy them from you, or maybe a couple

  23. My truck had its original, smokey, tired 8BA in it when I got it that still held 25 psi of oil pressure cold. I built this sumbitch to replace it. Was it expensive? Yes. Is it fast? No. Would I do it again? No. Was it worth it? F*ck yes.

I got a 49 Merc Flathead sitting on my engine stand just waiting for the right body and chassis to drop it in. Flatheads to me are the best sounding V8. Love em and always will.

  28. Even the stuff that bolts to a flathead is pretty - I'm putting a T5 behind my 8BA and came up with two of these bellhousings, stamped 3/16 steel - looks like stamping technology was pretty well advanced by 1949. 49-51 ford car bellhousing.JPG
