under the intake manifold on the block at the right rear there is this number QE27 999*(a star) can anybody cypher that out for me? it doesn't match up with the info on this site at least its not clear to me I was told its a 51 or 52 last year but now I am having my doubts, perhaps I dreamt that conversation.... http://flatheaddrag.com/birthday.html
Might be an engine re-build shop number. When I worked for Freeman Wilson (Calgary) we stamped a "Re-build Ticket Number" at the right rear corner. It didn't have anything to do with Ford numbers.
it was rebuilt in edmonton, its got a tag riveted to the block with the rebuild information, would they still stamp it? I'd swear I had found a site that decyphered them numbers but can't seem to find it or maybe I had read it wrong to start with
Is it a late model block or an early block? 21 studs or 24 bolts? Front distributor or side? Integral bell housing or not?
its got the water necks on the front of the heads, bell housing unbolts, front side distributor not one of them crab jobs, I figure its a late style block the numbers on the back top side of the block are c8ba
You have a 1949 Canadian 8BA block. C = Canada, 8BA was from 1949. Check here for more info. Go the left side and click on "Which Engine" >> http://www.agt.net/public/bboogaar/
I just picked up an 8BA motor last night, and in the "birthday" location at the back corner of the block under the intake was a square with a 52 in it. Any idea what this number means? 1952? ---- | 52 | ----
