under the intake manifold on the block at the right rear there is this number QE27 999*(a star) can anybody cypher that out for me? it doesn't match up with the info on this site at least its not clear to me

I was told its a 51 or 52 last year but now I am having my doubts, perhaps I dreamt that conversation....

Might be an engine re-build shop number. When I worked for Freeman Wilson (Calgary) we stamped a "Re-build Ticket Number" at the right rear corner. It didn't have anything to do with Ford numbers.

it was rebuilt in edmonton, its got a tag riveted to the block with the rebuild information, would they still stamp it?

I'd swear I had found a site that decyphered them numbers but can't seem to find it or maybe I had read it wrong to start with

  4. Is it a late model block or an early block?
    21 studs or 24 bolts?
    Front distributor or side?
    Integral bell housing or not?

    You have a 1949 Canadian 8BA block. C = Canada, 8BA was from 1949.

Check here for more info. Go the left side and click on "Which Engine"

I just picked up an 8BA motor last night, and in the "birthday" location at the back corner of the block under the intake was a square with a 52 in it. Any idea what this number means? 1952?
