hey guys, I managed to break a bendix spring on my 8ba last weekend and rummaged through my uncles spares pile for a temporary replacement... no problem, found one.... only the bolt holes are too small for the bolts on the spring I found everything else appears to be the same.... I want to make sure of what i have and what I need to get. I looked online at Macs and aside from a 32 vs 49 prefix it seems they use the same part number... they both reference the same Ford part number on mac's website.... could I have a Y-block spring or something like that??

Let me guess--- running 12 volts thru a 6 volt starter? My buddy goes through a bendix per year.
