PLEASE HELP..im trying to ID a motor i just picked up.the old guy said it came out of a 46 pick up.ive looked online and cant seem to find the numbers this motor has.
back of motor is stamped B5 just to the right of that is 440 2 could also be 443 2
drivers head 8 rt below that is 33k
pass head 8ba below that ne3
there are no numbers on the pass side of block at the intake, just square with a 7 stamped in it
another thing .theres a tag on the drivers side front by water bump that says ford remanufactor ,has specs like bore, main bearing.

Most of those numbers mean nothing. The 8BA and 8RT on the heads tell that the heads are 49-53, 24 stud with the water outlets that bolt on at the front top corner.
    A picture would help immensely.

The engine has a truck head (8RT) on one side and a passenger car head (8BA) on the other side. This style engine was used in trucks starting in 1948 and cars starting in 1949.
    The engine has been rebuilt.
There may be a date code on the intake manifold mountig surface (see example)

Pic shows only that it is a 1948 or 1949 truck or car engine based on what little can be seen of the water pumps and wide belt pulleys.
Check to see if you can find a date code.

I paid 400 for a similar engine that runs a year ago. If that is any help. Best to pull the heads and check for cracks though. Not worth much if the block is cracked but worth around what I paid for mine if it isn't.
Most buyers who are going to pay serious money will want to see it with the heads off before paying premium money anyhow.

The wide belt stuff for late model engines isn't that common..and works great with truck pumps (which I think I see?)..anyhow they are good for putting late flatheads in early frame..like 28-34...price? It varies..put a price on it ...you can always come down...but you can't go up..:D d32

Looks like a 49-53 truck motor and looks just like the one I have sitting in my garage.
