On my 59 A powered '34 Ford pickup I will be locating the radiator in the rear.
Questions are, what would be a good radiator to use, and are the Speedway or other after market water pumps sufficient to keep the coolent circulating that kind of distance? Also wonder about mounting it in the horizontal position with an electric fan pusher or puller? Would need to find one with the appropriately mounted filler tube. I've seen some Griffin seconds on Ebay for $110.00. With two rows of 1" tubes 16X24 thought they might be worth considering. New radiator good price. I know this has been done and am curious as to others experiances.
Thanks in advance for any feedback. Craig W.

Not sure its a good idea,, are you planning on driving this thing??

if you are going to put the radiator in the back it had better be big,, afco sells one that is 19x31. Part #AFC 80102N

Improved pumps are a must, may have to run remote pumps as well, flatty pumps arent the greatest.

You will also need the biggest electric fans you can get, however the big fans pull a lot of amps, hows your charging system??

I agree. You will be lucky if you don't have cooling issues.
I would definitely use Skip Haneys pumps on this application.
They have a revised impeller that improves flow by 50%

The very best pumps are Fryers, way better than anything made by speedway. Call Daryl Fryer at 1-626-335-7501. He's in Glendora, CA.

Not sure this belongs in this thread. I have a 1937 Ford Standard, new aluminum Griffin radiator mounted as original, a 59AB block, dual carbs, alternator in generator location, tried using the engine fan& mount for 59AB but stock engine fan will hit radiator. Need it 1" shorter but if I try to get that on the engine side of fan, only 5/8" is available then the fan blades hit the MSD crab type distributor. I have concluded that I must go to an electric fan? Are their alternatives to use an engine mounted fan?

You're likely going to require aux inline pumps - flatty pumps will be doing well to push the water all the way back somewhere & back through a radiator.

Skip Haney offers modified pumps with improved impellers, seals, & bearings.

But I think you're going to have problems. Besides, what are you trying to do?

Well here's why. The way I have set this thing up '40 axle spring mounted to the wishbones with arched front frame rails, and not wanting to have an over lengthy wheel base I just don't have room for a front mount radiator. I guess you'd have to see it and I am working on getting some pictures posted. the overall profile and proportions is really quite cool looking, although not without its problems, the radiator being one. But surely this can be done well with reliable results. I spend most of my days solving problems and taking care of all kinds of issues, cant see why this can't be resolved. Thanks for any and all coments as they will be most helpful in making the right choices and the key to making this happen....Craig S.
