I know to alot of people flame throwers are getting old and all that jazz but I have a question. The other night I saw an old episode of monster garage the one with the green mustang mower. They had a propane flame thrower rigged up on the car. It looks like a better setup than what I have used before with an electric fuel pump which can leave pools of burning fuel behind my car if the spark doesn't ignite on the first try. How would you go about setting up one on propane? could I use the little bottles like you can buy at walmart for torches and cook stoves? Don't you need some kind of electric valve hooked to a switch to let the propane into the exhaust? What kind of valves will work and where to get them? Do you have to run some kind of a pressure regulator and what kind of pressures would you run?

I know the stuff is dangerous so I don't need all the saftey monitor talk. I'm just curious I've been thinking about the propane being a little safer because if the sparkplugs don't fire the propane will just go away instead of pool up on the ground then ignite and lite my damn car on fire. To put it simple I'm tired of melting my taillights because the fuel has pooled up on one side because it quit firing the sparkplug then it would ignite like a bon fire under my car. I don't want to take them off of my car but I would like to know more about the propane setups they look a little better. If you don't want to reply you can pm me any help also or if some one could make out some kindof a plan for them I'd appreciate that also just looking for options thats all.

    Thanks in advance.

The funny thing is, that'd work pretty good for "mowing" lawns at high speed too

I saw a car with propane flame throwers once. the guy couldn't get both sides to work at the same time, and the flames were nothing special. My good buddy Badpat makes kits and he's got some pretty bitchin flames.

The novelty has worn off. I hardly ever use em any more and am removing them when the new motor goes in.

I saw a set go in at a shop a little while ago--used a dedicated in-line electric fuel pump, and inserted a fuel injection nozzle in each tip. Each side had it's own coil, too. It was a stand-alone system with it's own fuel lines, so he could light them while driving.
The EFI injector atomized the gas nicely.

What kind of EFI injector did your buddy use what kinda car was it off of? I've thought about using an injector but I haven't been able to find any that would work very well without a huge amount of modifications and lots of $$$$.

Oh yea I saw the Old skool mag, but its "tech section did suck when it came to the real tech". Infact the car that they showed shooting the flamethrowers in the mag was shooting pretty good sized ones I think it was a marron and white 62 impala but I'm not sure I don't have the mag here to verify it.

  13. yah, what injectors did they use, ,like to know too, also what has to be done to make them function...spray? using NOS solinoids and there little spray nozzles, works but not the best...
