Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Mai Ki-Ki, Feb 10, 2004.

  1. Heres my ride side on.....to bare after i shaved all the chrome.

Second pic shows my current thinking....Bass flames....(wish i was local to mr bass!) and the roof redone in Dark purple instead of pink purple (girly) as it is now...

Any ideas...photoshops.....want some wicked flames basically....and open to ideas...!

scallops may work better in that you could incorporate the straight body pressings in the front fender and rear quarter panel

That would look killer with some dean jefferies style panels, and scallops!! Although I do like the flames that you put on it.

the front of your car looks like 56 Chevy. The back looks like 56 Plymouth. Find flames you like. get them onto a transparency. use overhead projector to project onto car. trace, paint. Sand flames off, send Mr Bass a plane ticket [IMG]

    I like em both...

But unless your dead set on flames I'm not positive if its not gonna "over do it." Ya know those customs that have so many tricks your blown away on the details.. but when ya look at it from more then 5 feet away or so its just got to much going on [IMG]

I kind of like the smooth sides. how about chopping and sectioning a couple of inches and then flame the hood and roof

I like Django's idea of flames within scallops.

I'd do the same thing on the lower fender / door.

A little different take on scallops:

  20. Seems that there's more than a few local "painters" around your area already MKK, judging by those walls.....give one of them a job!

  21. Django - I like the Top "strip flames". Very nice...which also reminded me of the long flow of flames on the WWC *spit* 57 Wagon....which i dig! [IMG]

41ChevyTrucker...hehe...no chopping! Couple of chopped street machine Ek's around here look Not Quite Right...have put me off even considering a chop! Now a section.....Hmmm. [IMG]

62 Buford...I kinda like that Large Panelled off lower section....Intwesting! [IMG]

Wayfarer...Nice locations on the scallops man! Still have a weird aversion to scallops on 50's car though!

    Thanks Guys for the input!

    Cheers

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Those are still BASS's flames, I just pared them down a little.

    I agree, Django's got it.
Perfect stance and the graphics are right on. Not too over the top but very effective. I liked it the second I saw it.

  24. Hey Mikee,

Django's idea is the best. makes use of those horizontal spampings which look like scallops anyway. Do it!

Glad you guys dig my design! That bodyline just screams for something to accentuate the lines. Go for it and make me proud. [IMG]

  26. A mild section

If you are going for flames I would use the whole bodyside as a canvas for thin seaweed-licks. Not a consentrated area coming out of the wheelwells. Also got to say that the definatly worst looking flamejobs in my book, are those where the first 1/5 of the car is yellow or whatever with short licks along the edge separating it from the rest of the car..

Mikie, you need to drop your car a few more inches. [IMG]
And your car is BEGGING FOR CHROME REVERSE WHEELS AND SPIDERS.

    Flames are lame.

Here is a panel job using your current colors:

    Here is eyeball-poppin' version:

You paint one of these paneled scallop designs, and your car will be in all the magazines, my friend. [IMG]

I gotta say I still prefer your very first version with just the section of Bass' flames...Very clean and tidy! A bit of McPhail's 52 Chevy influence goin on. It looks like a "modern-traditional" custom...meaning traditional influences built with an eye from today, not just a carbon copy of a traditional idea that's already been done.

Also, I'd take black steelies with spiders and wwws over cheap chromies anyday. A bit menacing and "today", not just the same ol idea beat to death one more time.

(The sectioned version and the two-door conversion are tasty as well...!)
