In 1970, my best friend in high school, Eddie Stephens, taught me how to drive a stick in his '69 Z28. How cool was that! I was grinning from ear-to-ear while learning to driving that car. After a couple of lessons in his car, I thought I new everything there was to driving a stick, so they set me up by asking me to drive the wrecker into the garage bay at the service station I was pumping gas at, at closing time. I didn't know about 1st gear being the granny gear in a wrecker, so when I put it in 1st gear and took off, that wrecker was bunny hopping up and down all the way across the lot until I got it parked inside. Everyone was rolling with laughter when I exited the wrecker. Oh to be young and dumb again!
