i want to mount the oil filter on the firewall of my 34 rdst w/331 1955 cadillac engine.there are 2 pipe plugs by the distrbutor, one i will use for oil pressure guage, can i also use that tap for the filter and run the drain to orig drain at front of the block? would that lower the presure on the guage? HOW DID YOU DO IT??

I have a few Frantz kits if you want to doll it up a bit

  3. Not sure if you’ll still get the required pressure to your rockers on the right head if you did that.
I thought the restrictor in the filter inlet port kept pressure to the rockers.
There must be a reason they took the oil from system down stream of the rockers and dumped it back into the timing chain area.
    Just my take on it.

Thanks, guess i won't use rear bungs. block was bare when i got it. there are two 1/8 taps in front of block, one below head on driver side ,other on top of block just forward of vally cover. witch is pressure? drain? is there a restriction on both pressure and drain fittings???

1/8" pipe really doesn't flow much oil but, yeah, better than nothing. And if you are using 5-20W then it might be worthwhile.
Does the block architecture have any opportunity just past the oil pump for a bigger tap?
