  16. I think it went something like this back in 1931.
Henry said : " for the 32, let's eliminate the aprons.
We can make a better frame & we need one anyway for the new V8. The new one needs to do the aprons job too. "

Design team says " but Mr Ford, we will need to put a crease in the frame. In order to flow the running boards and the fenders, The crease will need to run the entire length of tge frame and have a curve at the front just like the A apron does.

Henry says :" OK then , make the new frame for 32 as cool as the A aprons ! Figure it out boys"

I ran them on my green coupe for a while before I painted it. I'll see if I can find a pic.

  20. Several years ago my friend Paul decided his 29 needed something and added the splash aprons but after a couple of weeks he decided it just wasn't what he wanted.

He was at my shop one day and saw my set of 32 frame rails in the corner and he ask me if he could borrow them and use them to make a fiber glass mold.

He made a set of fiberglass frame rails and bolted them to the bottom of the body,,and from that time until today everyone that sees the car never questions that it isn't on deuce rails,,it's still on the frame he originally built. HRP

That's my old coupe in post #6 with the black '35s. Side aprons rule. When my '28 tub is done it'll be wearing aprons, probably the later ones again as they look neater.

Nothing to do with looking like a '32, it's about looking like you just pulled the fenders and 'boards to go racing, but left the aprons because the same bolts hold the body in place.
