  3. *Please exuse misspelling of The Burgarin Merc In the poll choices*

  4. Hirohata and Burgarin's are '51s.

i dont mind a lil well placed junk, i remember reading bout the hirohata merc being for sale in the in the mid to late 60s for around $200 pick up price, correct me if im wrong there, i maybe young but i have a crap memory.

  9. The Zupan Merc was hardly built by Barris. All of the major work was done by the Ayala's for Bettancourt and the Barris' updated it twice with the Zupan version being by far the worst.

Check out the current issue of Kustoms Illustrated for a nice feature on the Burgarin Merc.

  12. Did I miss the place he asked for 49-50s? just says Mercury on my computer..so the Matranga merc would surley qualify

  14. Of the 4 mercs listed I say Sam's 49. Of all the 49-51's I say Bettancourt's by the Ayala's.

    Yes, you missed it.
A poll of four 49-51 Mercs; Barris, Burgarin, Hirohata, Zupan

Not including Matranga, Bettancourt, Quesnel, etc.

This one. Or, the original. Or, which is more original? That's the question.

normally I would vote Bettencourt but since its not on the list I will have to go hirohata over zupan version. regardless of the ayala work involved.
I think this thread should include all the early 49 -51 mercs by barris.
that would be a tough decision. I have always liked manny holder's 51

If it was on the list i would pick Fred Rowe 51 merc convert..Its custom but doesnt take away from looking like a merc .But not on the list so id say Dave Bugarin 51 merc.
