We were at a local car-show (Baytown's 28th annual) when some guy approached me with a question that I should have known the answer to. He said were the fat fendered Ford (specifically 37-40) front fenders all the same? Well in my infinite wisdom I said, "pretty much all the same except the 40 had those goofy looking headlights!" Turns out (I'm sure all the purists knew the answer) that Henry "flattened" the area just below and between the headlights and grill shell. This made the car look like it was wider between the headlights. This was mid year 1939 and, listen up, he allowed a replacement fender to be used along with the original "non flattened" one.
