Well, finally comited to the assylum here :)

I bought a Banjo Rear w/ rear dog bones & Top Loader Trans today for $250 & got an intake, Generator & a Scripted FoMoco Holley 94 with fuel pump thrown in nada extra.

Parts came off of a 5 window '32 here in North Cackalacky.

    Banjo was stamped 937

    & Tranny I8-I729416

Them digits ring a bell? Help is appreciated.

Tomorrow I'm lookin' @ 4 runnin' flatheads & a naked block to pick a direction.

There's an 8BA, 8RT, EBA & a Merc. Gonna avoid the EBA due to the lack of hardened seats. Hafta see which sounds the best & look at pullin' heads if possible. Will definately check oil psi, overall condition & runability before purcha$e. I'll tear it down any how,... it's what we do :),... but good to have a clean startin' point.

May end up scratch buildin' a rig, ~less'n I can find a good deal on Henry parts.

Stay tuned & thanks for the inspiration. I'll post pics when it ain't so dark outside.

Thanks Butch! Where bouts might I cross reference future rears? Would that be a V8 rear then?

    Update:

I bought a runnin' red painted 51 Flatty fer $500 today, possible Merc motor,... though only one head had Merc 8CM,.. the block had a C in the casting number, still hafta drop the pan to look for the tell tale indent or pull a head & see if she strokes 4-oh.

*Question,... the other head just has a very small ford emblem, possible repair or did the factory ever do this? He also threw in 2 EAC Mercury heads in great condition, Sweet Freebies!

  5. Sounds like you're finding lots-o-stuff! You gotta let me in on your little secret. :D

The rear in both of my A's are 4:11 and are 'bangers. Yours could be out of just about anything......

Keep posting your finds. The resources here are astounding!

You gonna be in CLT for GG?

    Been a while.

Swaped a 30-31 5 window bod I pulled outta the woods for a 29 roadster cowl some cross members & a door. Also picked up a drilled straight axle with split bones a few months go & found a "A" Rear Spring in Charlotte at the Horneets Nest.
