I have a set of crappy E&J repops, the shit kind from eBay. I'm getting them to a point where they won't look terrible, so I'll be running them. The problem is that they have no mounts attached to them. The good news is that there are no holes or anything for the mount, meaning I can do whatever the hell I want to.

Mt initial though was to scavenge the ball mount from the bottom of a set of old buckets, cut them off and attach them to a new plate that works on my headlights.

Any other ideas? They need to be adjustable, so a solid mount is out.

    Thanks!!

PS Yes, I searched, but terms like "headlight", "fabricate", and "mount" bring up hundreds of posts.

I'm going to be buying some seconds off of OTB to sink into some fenders. I'll be cutting off that exact part. You can have them if you want.

I have. Don't have any pics, but me and my crew created some mounts with 1/8" plate. Made a 2.25" right angle then welded a 45 degree angle gusset. Mounted that on top of the IFS with the suspension's bolt. Drilled a hole and mounted some massive '32 Commercial headlights on my '34 Plymouth high-boy. BTW, we used two Craftsman 9/16" sockets as bushings. Hows that for hillbilly fabrication? It looks good too.

Not sure what you're looking for, but hopefully that'll help!

Sounds like it. We are going to cut down a Model A headlight bar for the frame mounts.

heres some custom ones welded to the frame, there made out of 16 gauge, 4 pieces to each one,(front back and 2 sides) a piece of exhaust tubing with a cupped washer on the top. the bottom of the bucket is slotted for adjustment.

Yah, I don't remember seeing his headlights.........but I know he's got a system to mount that light to that bracket. I'll find out when he gets home.

Why not machine up a piece and weld it to the buckets you have?
    It's just aluminum...
edit: you could even tap them.

I think your idea of scavenging the old ball and stud off another bucket is gonna be your best bet. Plus it will have the stock look, IMO

Machining the ball part would be beyond my skills. Well, doing it good anyway.

kirk if you're just looking for something to make the cup part out of look at some rocker arms, heavy enough steel and the hole is already slotted. i used some for headlight mounts awhile back and the worked great.

Thanks for the confidence. I'm pretty sure I could get the job done from scratch, but I'm lazy and thinking I want to start with a pari and cut them up. The domed piece would be time consuming.

    Oooohhh!! That's a great idea!

It looks like I may have tracked down a pair that I can get on Saturday to cut up.

  26. After reading your post a second time I see this is not what you are looking for......but someone may find it helpful.
I cut these out of one inch aluminum. Next I will machine a slot between the two pieces for the wire, weld them together and then shape it with a grinder and files.

More pics when they are done.........

Kirk, We built a 33 roadster with E&J's. For the base, I cut the ball off the base off a crappy pair of lights, then welded it to the base for the E&Js it worked really well.

I cut the center out of a 28-29 model A headlight bar, faced it forward and heated and bent to fit my application.
