I found this article while researching some facts on the 427 SOHC. I figured that you all could appreciate it. http://www.f-100xl.com/
That's cool right there. I've never heard of that truck. I wonder where the drive train ran off to? Finding a real 427 cammer for it will likely be more expensive than the truck is worth. But I'd love to see it running again.
Glad to see this one survived; not many drag trucks did......and a Uni-body at that! A good example of the benefits of proper, dry storage. F-100 Club, check it out!!
I beleive he has already finished it..on one of the truck sites, there were recent pictures of different shows it was at
The website hasn't been updated in quite awhile. The truck has been partially restored and now has the correct 2x4 427 engine. It will not be getting a cammer now from what I've been told. I have photos of it at the York "Slick Stock" from a few years ago with the fresh wedge. I'm happy they decided against the cammer as the truck never raced with one. It is a very cool truck and in great "survivor" condition.
yeah that would look good next to my 62. I could have 1 for each mood I may wake up with. Its a pretty bad ass looking truck. Ive heard rumors it was done but not sure. If its not I hope they just clean up the paint and not re-paint. Its too cool.
I've known the owner since the 60's and we used to cruise around in it. I saw it today for the first time in over 30 years and it's now running again. It's not for sale. If anything it'll go back to Ford as they want it for their museum. Adios, Dirk
The driver that raced that back in the day checks in over on the FE Forum sometimes. Very interesting fella, has some pretty cool stories from those times.
