I did a search and came up empty....would someone post a link to some of the F1 steering box swap info that has been posted....Thanks
Okay, I'll bite. F-1 steering box swap into what, an 86 Corvette? Or is it a new box into an F-1? A little more detail in your question might net a better response, as we are not mind readers.
The housings are steel and can be welded. One method is to make a mounting flange that matches your frame and cut the old flange off and weld a new flange on that matches the frame angle.
I cut the old flange off my F1 box and made a new one. Below is a link to my build thread, post #113 has all the info you need. Including a PDF file for the flange blueprint. It's the most painless way to do it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=511327&page=6
I made a weld jig for a F-100 box in a 32. I took the old box and made a plate that would bolt to the flange and some used some scrap to make a support for the end of the steering shaft. It is easier to weld with the box out of the frame.
I just bolted my flange to the frame, put the box shaft through it and supported it with a jack. Put the column tube on and through the drop on the dash. Lined everything up and tacked it good. Pulled it out and welded it.
