Now that my cover is blown as the "longtime lurker" it's intro time. I'm emerging from the murky depths of the dreaded aircooled to, after 45 years, see the light. So free at last I can resume where I left off before domestication, kids, job, ad nauseum. It was an interesting journey with side tracks into outboard boat racing and closed course autocross. But now it's back to the 50's for a shot at building the car that got away. Went to the 2004 Pileup and saw what had been missed. Real cars with character(s)! Ever notice that the garage is never big enough?
Welcome. Nothing wrong with air-cooled. Lot of us around here still have one foot in the air-cooled pool.
I got a Vanagon my self. It's a good car for sex. If I could only talk a female into getting into it. So what are ya going to build and welcome to the 50s. pogo
Man, it's about time you introduced yourself! Welcome to the hamb! You should post a few pictures from your racing days. And definitely show us your old Chevy. Whatcha got planned on the new car? For the introduction committee, Bobert's a good guy. He was in town a couple weeks after I bought my car and helped me track down my ignition "problem" as well as pointing out some of the important underhood parts. (Until then I'd only seen my Saturn's engine compartment.)
I know where you are coming from - one day you wake up and you just GOTTA get yourself a rod/custom - good luck and welcome
I like your tag line. I allways thought GM had that ad campaign messed up. They should have shown the 49 and 50 Olds tarring up NASCAR and Rocket motors tarring up the drags. And then some 442's tarring up the street and used the line "this IS your fathers Oldsmobile!" But that wouldnt have worked after they flashed to the new 99 Achevia. Maybe they would have sold enough to stay in the bizz if they had played up their high- performance past. Welcome aboard.
