The day started off great with a ride out into the badlands. We started back thru a really curvy section I Then noticed the Wife's bike was wiggling a bit. Turns out she picked up a nail in the rear tire Deluxe. Of all places in the middle of no where. Hell they even say it was a old stage coach stop....my ass. No shade or any form of life...just rocks. Well it was pretty cool to have cell service. Also there was a paved road that was near us. I decided to rip down it to see if I could find a plug. On my trip down this road...I got this thought...your going to find a old truck. I had seen a few on this ride so far. A 49 and a panel wagon way off in the distance....But none had screamed at me. Well I heard a scream! I turned my head and BAM there she was a 35 Ford. It Still has black plates on it too! The owner was pretty cool offered me water and a coke. He said it might be for sale...I was told to call him later and we could talk. It was about 107 degrees and both of us were not in the mood to discuss the truck. Let alone the fair skinned wife awaiting my return in the shade of a highway sign. So what does a decent 35 go for these days? Decent meaning. Full fenders, some rust on the roof...he says it ran about ten years ago and still has the flat head. Still has original wheels and all the glass. Thanks Pete
ask some of the guys in th 35-37 social group my dads had ours forever and got it for free but some of these guys just got theres they should have a good idea http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=26
Oh I did forget my fair maiden. She had to ride on the back of My VICTORY while her Harley had to ride flatbed......
Ah she has a good sense of humor. When I showed her the 38 I pulled out of the hay field (now owned by Firemunkey) She looked at me an said "fenders or not?" I almost pasted out. I couldn't believe I found the truck...it turns out this truck is one that I have inquired about before. Some ten years ago to be exact. So it looks to be destiny!
Ok I talked to the owner. He has to release it from his grandson's head. The kid wants it but hasn't touched it in years. He also says he wants what he has in it. Which is do able if I sell some more parts. The guy said the engine smoked really bad...hmm that means it might not be froze up!
This time on My trip to sun and back I brought a camera. Here is what she looks like. With closer inspection ...it is a 36 instead of a 35 Thinking of doing something like this
When the wifes bike breaks down all I get is "is it fixed yet?". Well.....that and bills for new parts. You're my idol right now since I wouldn't dare stop and look at a new project in that situation.
Guys...she is really a motor head at heart. If i had the choice to take her to a car show or a movie...the car show would win. Yeah this whole deal is looking pretty cool. Not only did I find this truck but about 10 others..so more to follow.
