On April 18th, 1945, the GI's lost their buddy, War Correspondent Ernie Pyle, on the island of Ie Shima. "Brave Men" , written by Pyle, gave the Home Folks at the time, and myself decades later, a real feeling and picture of the day to day struggle the average foot soldier faced to defeat the Axis Powers in Africa, the Mediterranean and European campaigns. It's a must read for anyone who wants to learn of what their Grandfather, Father, Uncles and others suffered through back then. Rest in Eternal Peace Ernie. Ernie.jpg Ernie2.jpg
