Just bought a 55 nomad.Has a sbc in it but,it doesn't have the numbers on the block on the passenger side by the head, where they usually are.I looked awfully hard.Cleaned it got a magnifying glass and nothing. It almost appears that there may be a letter "p"barely stamped on it but, it is ever so slightly. The guy,I bought the car from, thinks it might be a 327 but that's it.Is there any place else it may be?

It was probably decked at some point.
Casting numbers are at the rear of block on drivers' side.
Can be looked up at mortec.com

Rip the heads off and check the bore/stroke with some dial or digital calipers.. :D Since it's a rebuild, bores might check 4.030" or bigger.. Stroke is 3.250" for a 327/307 crank..
