Is there an acceptable/reliable 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engine for a traditional hot rod? I don't want to use a late model engine with F.I. I want something that would be period and Ford if possible. I just spotted the ChevyII 4 cylinder marine engine thread. That looks interesting.
The engine is for a manual trans 28 Ford Roadster project. I would like to actually drive the car at highway speed all day without drama or massive fuel consumption.

Your experience and thoughts are welcome.

Chevy 250 inline 6 might be a good choice. Design is old enough so you can dress it how you like, and you can find parts for it at your local parts store. Just remember, all 250's "came from a 69 Camaro" !!!! ;)

  3. I am doing a 31 sedan with a built ford 1.8 with dual Weber side drafts, a header and an alum. 4 speed. Fits like a glove.
