i recently bought a 29 chevy and 33 chevy. i need title's for both, and the tags are gone. sometimes the engine number was used on titles, and that is the route i have to try. where exactly is the number located? can't find a "pad" like my 54 engine. i have found the casting number, but i know that won't work. any help would be great. i'm kinda new to this era of car. thanks. also, pics would be great if it's not a big deal.
Are there any data plates on either the firewall or the door post? They may be painted over...... 4TTRUK
Those early Chevy cars sometimes have the Serial Number Plate under the seat on the floor on the passenger side, oddly enough.
Look near the distributer. It will be crusty and dirty no doubt. They didn't have vin numbers yet in '33 and all cars were either titled by the engine number of the frame number which would have matched the engine number.
didn't see any data plates (but i did not open the door yet). there are no floors in either car, so that's not an option. i know about the distributor location, but was unable to locate anything except the casting number. would the number i'm looking for be a cast number or stamped?
the number would be stamped, and it would have letters like AC or AD and some numbers, and possibly a couple other characters. I don't have a good reference for those ones.
