sbc 350 .030 over alum. flat top pistons, comp. cam, triple angle valve job, ported intake, and exhauston heads, 307 crankshaft. edelbrock intake, edelbrock 600 carb. the idle rolls. is this the cam? i installed a new stall conv. i filled the trans up today and now its ideling weird. i don't have the vacume module of the trans hooked up yet. could this be why? i have no idea. i just got the motor together and running. all comments welcome.

    Sounds like a vacuum leak.

That's what I would look for first. Second would be carburetor.

maybe a bad vacuum advance? check to see if the timing is fluctuating with the idle.

so I put my vacume guage on and it says intake leak, or that little place where the auto choke goes. I started the motor and sprayed either at carb gasket, intake gasket, and were the choke went NO leak. I removed the vacume to the dist. and put it on the left vacume side of the carb. now the vacume gauge is steady idle sounds steady. but the V/guage still says vacume leak. the only thing I have disconnected is the vacume module on the trans. but the intake has a plug in it. anyone have any ideas?

That could be all the vacuum you get with that cam, also check ignition timing.
