Cool!! You're going to have to fill everyone in with the DETAILS on how that was lowered. Looks great!

I found some more damage to my van. The rust I knew about, but the spring mount pulling away from the body, I didn't. :( I'm still getting used to unibodies.

so. how rare are the ones with no side cargo doors, and just front doors and rear doors. i just picked up a 65 like this. and i assure you, the doors arent welded shut. just curious.
i had to sell my 61 eco. truck, and now, i'm back in the econoline game.
it was sitting in warehouse storage for the last 25 years. and i bought it when i delivered a 1922 rolls royce to the place. it's complete with port hole windows, shag carpet and wide chrome wheels on the rear. it's a short wheel base, heavy duty.
any info on the rarity of this would be great. thanks.

Any word-of-mouth production figures are suspect.
I know they have Marti reports on muscle cars, try contacting them to see if they have van info too. They have a contract with Ford to provide this type of info.

That's a "true" panel van. I don't know the exact numbers, but they're pretty low. That doesn't make them more valuable though because they're less practical for most people... unless you own a carpet business. :)

has anyone replaced the upper steering bearing/bushing??? 61-67 Econo

I replaced the factory steering wheel...and after tightening the new wheel.....column had excessive play/movement. tore back down....seen that the bushing backing up the steering column....backing away from the bearing causing the play? what keeps this in place???

any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I haven't done it, but you should check the shop manual. There is probably an exploded view. I don't have mine handy.

thanks dude......exactly what i was looking for. But i'm guessing that stock spring keeps that sleeve "in place"

Since I'm not using that spring for my new steering wheel...that sleeve is being forced upward and causing the "play" in the column.

I just added a couple of photos of new seat covers on my album. We recently started making for 1964-1965 Econoline standard front bucket seats- Take a look fellas and let me know what you guys think.
I am currently in searching for original seat upholstery to pattern.

  23. Try four on the tree with a floor lever with lockout for reverse.

  25. Not mine but this one showed up at a local cruise-in a couple days ago. No rear side doors on either side as mentioned above. I didn't notice it till the owner pointed it out to me. Think he said it had something like less than 30,000 miles on it. Still has the lights, siren and radio gear in it.

Has anybody heard of Ford Econoline pick-ups being called "Tadpole"? I was talking to a friend that had one growing up in Ohio and he said they all called them "Tadpoles" because they kind of looked like a Tadpole.
    Anybody?

Awesome...I always wondered what wheel hop would feel like in my eco...

finally able to get a pic that would post.
    this is my toy.
a loose tribute to the old wheelstanders back in the day.
stroked 283, shortie glide direct coupled to detroit locked 4:10 rearend. complete set-up is in the bed. totally useless, but totally fun.
